Traits of a Trusted Advisor
Do you have a trusted advisor in your current search firm relationship? Someone you can turn to regularly for business advice on your most important leadership issues? To find out, try this list of traits other clients believe a trusted advisor should possess:
Trusted Advisors*
- Seem to understand you, effortlessly, and like you
- Always help you see things from a fresh perspective
- Are consisitent and dependable
- Don't try to force things on you
- Are in it for the long haul (the relationship is more important than the current issue)
- Act like a real person, not someone in a role
- Make you feel comfortable and casual (but take issues seriously)
- Don't substitute their judgement for yours
- Are reliably on your side and always seem to have your interests at heart
- Give you options, increase your understanding of those options, give you a recommendation, and let you choose
- Are always honorable (and you trust their values)
